    I am temporary worker at AXA. I had Unite leaflet put on my desk. As temp. I am not considering joining Unite. But I notice that all Unite leaflets have Direct Debit form on back of them. ANd not a single clue about how much it would cost to join. If Unite want members to join then they should give thought to this lack of info. WHo fills in a Direct Debit with no foreknowledge of the amount of money that will be taken from them? And what sort of organisation distributes Direct Debits with no attendant cost info? On your website the online joining process apparently calculates monthly fee. At least then prospective member has some idea of cost. Suggestion – inform the people you are trying to recruit of an estimate of how much membership might cost. Only a fool returns a completed Direct Debit without knowing this.

    with all respect i can see where your coming from however if you were that interested in joining the union the chances are you would ask how much the direct debits are before joining, the main reason for joining the union would not be the cost anyway, it would be the benefit of having someone to back you up or assistance whilst your in the workplace – “only a fool returns a completed directed debit without knowing this ” correct – i can’t say in 16 years of being with the union i have ever had a case like this – we trust our members to know exacly what the costs are before joining and they can do this by asking one of our workplace reps who hand out the leaflets. many thanks
