How to beat the bullies

It was rather ironic in the week Unite in AXA decided to promote the Dignity at Work initiative, which AXA has signed up to, that the company should unfortunately appear in the press for all the wrong reasons in respect of bullying. Recognising the importance of the issue and that one incident is one too many, the company are preparing new training for managers on the subject, a move we applaud.

Earlier in the week we issued a newsletter challenging us all to look at our own behaviours and ensure they do not step over the line into bullying. Today we are issuing a newsletter for staff concerned that they may be the victims of bullying and containing some tips on how to deal with bullying behaviour and where to get help. This newsletter can be accessed by clicking the link here.

I WAS EMPLOYED WITH AXA GLASGOW IN 2002.I ENDURED BULLYING AND HARRASMENT SINCE IT FINALLY WORE ME DOWN. HR WERE A TREMENDOUS SUPPORT. I HAVE NOW LEFT DUE TO LONG TERM HEALTH ABSENCE.
SO FOR ME I HAVE LOST MY JOB , HEALTH WILL TAKE TIME TO GET BACK UP TO NORMAL MY PENSION IS AFFECTED. AND MY FINANCES HAVE BEEN SEVERLY DAMAGED.

WHY , BECAUSE BULLIES FORM CLIQUES AND SAY YOU ARE SENSITIVE AND A POOR PERFORMER.THEY MAKE REMARKS OUTWITH EARSHOT OF OTHER STAFF.THEY BELITTLE YOU.THEY PRETEND YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING AND THAT THE CUSTOMER WILL SUFFER.BASICALLY THEY PUT YOU DOWN TO GROUND ZERO.THEY FEEL THREATENED BY KNOWLEDGE.YOU NEVER GET ANY PRAISE. EVENTUALLY YOU LOSE ALL YOUR DIGNITY AND BELIEVE YOU KNOW NOTHING.

2 YEARS ON AND THEY STILL HAVE THEIR JOBS. SURPRISING FOR A LARGE COMPANY TO ALLOW THIS IN 2012.

I AM A STRONG INDIVIDUAL WITH 34 YRS EXPERIENCE WITH A GOOD CHARACTER.I KNEW WHAT THEY WERE TRYING TO DO ALL ALONG.

PERSONALLY I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A BULLYING AND HARRASMENT CONTACT TELEPHONE NUMBER WITHIN ORGANISATIONS. IT IS ONLY A FEW BAD APPLES THAT BRING THE STANDARDS DOWN.EASY TO SORT OUT IF COMPANIES ARE AWARE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE HARRASMENT.
